Set up a YouTube channel for your business
YouTube is a search engine with a feed attached. Videos rank for years, which makes it the only social platform where this month's work still brings customers next year. It rewards patience: one good video a week beats daily noise.
Create a brand channel
- Sign into YouTube with your business Google account.
- Open your avatar, then Settings, then Create a channel — name it after your business, not yourself.
- Under the channel's customisation options, add your logo as the profile picture, a banner image, and a description that says what you make and who it is for.
- Add your website and social links, and a contact email for business enquiries.
Set it up for search
- Channel description: write the searches you want to be found for into plain sentences.
- Video titles: what people actually type ("how to descale an espresso machine"), not clever wordplay.
- Thumbnails: readable at small size — big text, clear subject, consistent style.
- Playlists: group videos by topic; playlists rank and keep viewers watching.
What to know before uploading
- Watch time is the metric. Deliver the title's promise in the first 30 seconds, then keep delivering.
- How-tos, comparisons and answered questions outperform brand films for small businesses.
- Shorts are a discovery channel; long-form builds subscribers and trust. Use both.
Connect it to Huuve
In Huuve, open Connections and press Connect next to YouTube when the connector is enabled for your workspace, then sign in with the Google account that owns the channel and approve the permissions.
If something fails
- Wrong channel connected: a Google account can own several channels — pick the brand channel in the chooser, not your personal one.
- Upload limits: new channels must verify a phone number to upload videos over 15 minutes and to use custom thumbnails; do it once under youtube.com/verify.
